Introducing Drupal

Drupal is a CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS) that makes it easy for website administrators and website users to publish content (web pages, books, blogs, forums) to the web. Web site administrators also use Drupal to customise their website.

Using a configurable user interface, users can extend the website functionality with "modules" that provide a massive range of state of the art web tools.

Drupal is perfect for the creation of Social Networking sites and allows a fine grained control over user permissions via the adoption of user "roles".

How this site works.
Students are provided with their own "subdomains, student1.learndrupal.co.uk, student2.learndrupal.co.uk etc. etc. Each of these subdomains share a common set of Drupal code, but are provided with their own databases.

Thus, through a process of modifying the content of their own databases using webforms, students are able to build independent sites.

To date, using this process, in excess of 1000 Drupal student web sites have been created over the past 3 years!
